Did you miss out on last week’s talk about the fire that devastated the Glasgow School of Art almost a year ago? Fear not, as Duncan Chappell (Academic Liaison Librarian, GSA) kindly let us record his presentation and share his powerpoint with you!
Next week, on Tuesday 14 April, the Icon Scotland Group will be hosting a talk at the Centre for Research Collections at Edinburgh University Main Library about the salvage operations following the devastating fire at the Glasgow School of Art.
This talk, by Academic Liaison Librarian Duncan Chappell, will describe the immediate response to the fire and to the salvage of the School’s archives and collections. It will explain some of the decision-making processes that were devised, and explore the complex ethical considerations that inevitably arise in such situations. It will also discuss the management of the post-fire archaeological dig and salvage operation, and how different teams of people were managed. Finally, it will also discuss the School’s longer-term plans to rebuild its collection in strategically-aligned ways.
Please join us on Tuesday 14 April from 3.30pm – 4.30pm to hear more on this fascinating topic.
